πͺ Setup, Furniture & Best Practices
This article covers recommended placement, furnishing ideas, and helpful tips to get the most from your Zenbooth whether youβre using it for calls, deep work, interviews, or team collaboration.
π§ Where to Place Your Zenbooth
Give it a little breathing room
For proper airflow, comfortable use, and installation access, we recommend:
- At least 4" of clearance behind the booth
- At least 36" of clearance in front of the door
- At least 10" of clearance above the booth for standard installation
- Side clearance based on your layout needs (no minimum required)
Limited ceiling height? Installation may be possible with as little as 4" of overhead clearance using specialized tools. Low ceilings should be reviewed and discussed with our team prior to installation (contact Zenbooth Support).
Consider airflow and temperature
Zenbooth's ventilation system draws air from the surrounding environment, so the temperature inside your booth will be influenced by the air around it.
- Zenbooth Solo, Duo & Quad: Air intake is located at the rear of the booth.
- Zenbooth Solo Pro: Air intake is located on the upper right side of the booth.
Avoid placing your booth's air intake directly next to heating vents, air conditioning outlets, or other sources of hot or cold air, as these can affect the temperature inside.
Keep intake areas unobstructed to maintain proper airflow and ventilation.
Flooring matters
- Solo, Solo Pro: Built-in floors - comes with an integrated wood flooring covered by an anti-fatigue mat for comfort, so they work on any hard surface or carpet.
- Duo & Quad: No built-in floor - they sit directly on your flooring. For best acoustic performance and comfort, place them on low-pile carpet or a rug that extends beyond the borders of the booth.
Avoid tight alcoves
Booths will still work in alcoves, but
- ventilation may feel weaker,
- sound may carry differently, and
- access may feel tighter.
If an alcove is your only option, leave as much room around the Zenbooth as your space allows.
π Moving Booths Within a Space
Zenbooths can be repositioned within a space after installation, though the process varies slightly by model.
- Zenbooths do not have wheels for safety and stability, but assembled booths can generally still be easily moved within the same area with a small team.
- Furniture sliders can make repositioning easier and protect flooring. Carefully lift each corner to place the sliders underneath before moving.
- Move slowly and avoid uneven surfaces or thresholds.
- β οΈ Do not use a dolly or forklift to move an assembled booth. Zenbooths are heavy, and their frames are not structurally designed to support the concentrated loads and stresses caused by lifting or transporting them this way. Doing so may damage the booth or create a safety hazard.
Special Considerations by Model
Solo Pro:
- The Solo Pro has built-in adjustable leveling feet that must be retracted before moving.
- Once the leveling feet are retracted, furniture sliders can be used to reposition the booth.
After moving, remove the sliders and readjust the leveling feet to properly support and level the booth. - For complete instructions, refer to the Solo Pro Installation Guide.
Duo & Quad:
- These models are floorless, so extra care is needed to avoid twisting or stressing the frame.
- We recommend using experienced facilities staff and moving slowly, particularly over thresholds or uneven flooring.
Moving to a New Location
For larger relocations, such as moving between floors, buildings, or cities, we generally recommend disassembling and properly crating the booth rather than transporting it fully assembled.

π‘ Tips for Lighting, Acoustics & Comfort
Make video calls look great
Zenbooths have integrated LED lighting, but you can fine-tune your setup:
- Face toward the door or a light wall for softer light
- Add a small diffused light if filming or recording content
- Avoid placing bright light sources directly behind you
Reduce echo inside the booth
Zenbooths absorb echo well, but you can soften your space even more by adding:
- A small rug (Duo & Quad especially)
- Soft accessories like cushions
- Fabric-covered seating
Keep your booth cool & fresh
The built-in ventilation is designed for ongoing comfort. To help it work best:
- Keep the cut-outs/vents free of obstructions
- Avoid storing boxes against the rear panel
- Leave recommended 4β clearance behind the booth
Quiet your tech
Small adjustments go a long way:
- Switch laptops to "quiet mode" during calls
- Move external hard drives off hard surfaces
- Use felt pads under laptops or keyboards
π Cable Management & Tech Setup
Power is already handled
Every booth includes:
- (2) 15A outlets
- USB-A fast charging
- USB-C fast charging
- 120V plug-and-play power cord (~10 ft)
No electrical work required.
Clean cable routing
To keep cords tidy:
- Run laptop or monitor cables along the rear wall
- We recommend using adhesive cable clips or Velcro straps
External monitors
- Solo Pro supports monitor arms (clamp mount).
- Solo supports small, lightweight arms or tabletop monitors.
- Duo & Quad can accommodate larger displays - most teams mount a screen on the back wall or use a table-mounted stand.
π§Ή Keeping Your Booth Clean
A quick recap (from Care & Maintenance):
- Use mild soap + water on laminated surfaces
- Vacuum PET acoustic panels gently
- Treat raw wood edging with a light touch
- Wipe glass with standard glass cleaner
- Vacuum the floor or mat regularly

π§ Best Practices for Daily Use
- Close the door fully to activate ventilation and maintain acoustic performance
- Adjust your seat height so your forearms are parallel to the desk surface
- If you share booths, leave it tidy for the next person
- Try to keep calls to 60-90 minutes if using Solo/Solo Pro - ventilation keeps up well, but longer meetings benefit from short breaks
- Add personal touches! Plants, small art, or soft lighting make work sessions more enjoyable πΏ
